Heath Week is here!
Saturday 25th July to Sunday 2nd August
#HeathWeek2020
A couple of years ago I started what I hope will become a local tradition. Heath Week for the Thames Basin Heaths! Timed for the beginning of the school holidays and packed with free activities to get kids (of all ages!) outside, enjoying the countryside and learning to love their natural environment.
This year is our third Heath Week. It won’t be quite as we planned it, but it’ll be absolutely brilliant! We’ve teamed up with Surrey Wildlife Trust to bring you a virtual celebration of local heathland.
I’m so proud of the team I work with! At fairly short notice they have gone out and captured the essence of the heathland, its wildlife and landscape, and put together lots and lots of activities to do at home. They’ve become crafters, graphic designers, film makers and editors, artists and fact finders, almost overnight. And nothing has been too much trouble. Thank you team, you’re the best!
Over the coming week we’ll be sharing the Thames Basin Heaths with ‘Virtual’ Heath Week. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Catch it here, on social media and on the Surrey Wildlife Trust website.
And don’t forget to tune into BBC One, 7pm on Sunday 2nd August, when Countryfile will be visiting the Thames Basin Heaths.
