A visit to Bramshot Farm Country Park

We can now boast nearly 80 #GreenspaceOnYourDoorstep walks, meaning that there are yet more new places to explore, be it for walking the dog, jogging, cycling, taking the family for a stroll, or wildlife spotting. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s time to move onto finding somewhere new. Many of the greenspaces have been open for some years now and what’s exciting is that they’re constantly evolving!

I visited Bramshot Farm Country Park last week to plan a group dog walk. I know that our Heathland Hounds members and their dogs love it, but on this occasion it took on a new perspective for me. I decided to take time to investigate all the beautiful carvings. As an adult, I admire the work that’s gone into creating them, but I imagine that from a child’s eye view they must be fascinating. It occurred to me that there are lots of opportunities to connect families with the environment here – exploring waterways, hedgerows and dead wood too. Trying den building and learning to identify trees, or searching for minibeasts. All from the safety of surfaced paths and with the comfort of ornately carved benches and picnic tables to rest awhile in between the fun!
