Greenspace on your doorstep: New edition
I last updated you about my ‘Greenspace on your doorstep’ project back in May, when I estimated that I’d visited around 50 of the 80-odd walks being included in the new edition. I’m relieved to say that I managed to visit all of them and that the new booklet has just been published. It was a big job checking the details, creating the map and making sure the local councils were happy with it too, but it’s finally here! The boxes of booklets arrived yesterday morning.
I’ll be handing out free copies next week at the locations listed below or you can download a copy from our leaflets page.
I really hope you enjoy it and find it useful. The booklet and our website are the only places that list these walks in one place. They’re part of an innovative strategy to help protect the heathland of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area. The theory goes that as more houses are built, more people move into the area and more people potentially visit the heaths. More visitors can mean that rare heathland birds are easily disturbed and the ‘Greenspace on your doorstep’ walks are designed to alleviate this by giving us other places to visit.
