Heath Week is coming!
It’s nearly Heath Week and we’re all geared up to bring you a fantastic, fun-packed week of free activities. The Fire & Rescue Services are putting on a “Wildfire Roadshow” with a chance to meet the local crews and clamber into the cab of one of their fire engines, and we’ll be showcasing nature with Nightjar walks, nature trails, scavenger hunts and opportunities to get hands-on with reptiles! All the activities are free, so please do come along. Let’s inspire the next generation by getting them involved now!
Find all the Heath Week activities listed at: Heath Week! Monday 24th to Sunday 30th July 2023
From Hazeley Heath and Bramshill Plantation in the west, to Ockham Common in the east, the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area spans over 20 miles of Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire. We’d love you to join us in celebrating this fantastic landscape and help us protect it for the future. In the last 200 years, we’ve lost around 84% of the heathland we once had and the remaining fragments are super-special. By shouting about heathland with a week of free activities, we’re putting heathland on the agenda and getting everyone involved. Join us in celebrating a precious wilderness that’s home to very special wildlife. There are amazing nocturnal birds that nest on the ground, rare butterflies, a dazzling collection of dragonflies and all six species of native reptile. Discover carnivorous plants, super-fast beetles and so much more!
If you can’t come, you can still join in. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing lots of Heath Week moments on social media and on our Heath Week gallery.
