It’s Heath Week!
It’s Heath Week, the highlight of our year! We have a fantastic programme lined up for you, packed with activities celebrating local heathland, its rare wildlife and its cultural history. All our activities are free, so please do come along. Let’s inspire the next generation by getting them involved now!
See the programme at: Heath Week 2022!
We’re working with the Fire & Rescue Services to bring you five “Wildfire Roadshows”. Emergencies permitting, you’ll be able to meet the crews that fight fires locally and try a fire engine for size. Please come along, we’d love to enrol more wildfire-prevention champions to help protect the heaths for the future!
We’ll be showcasing heathland wildlife with Nightjar walks, nature trails, scavenger hunts and opportunities to get hands-on with reptiles! There’s so much fantastic heathland wildlife, it’s hard to know where to begin! Clockwise from top-left below, there are mysterious Nightjars that come all the way from Africa to nest here, fantastic native reptiles including Adders, shy Dartford Warblers hiding in the gorse and winged beauties like the stunning Silver-studded Blue butterfly.
Warden Zoe will be running her Sensory Scavenger Hunts at Horsell Common and Broadmoor Bottom Nature Reserve, and she’d love to see you. And we know how much you love arts & crafts, so we have loads of opportunities to get out the colouring equipment or make your own heathland badge.
We’re so looking forward to seeing you!
